A WHOLE NEW WORLD
Kiko was a curious giraffe. He always wondered how life would be if only he could live a different life.
One day, he found an abandoned diving helmet in the sea shore and quickly decided that he would try to go beyond the sea (not for forever but he just wanted to know how does it feel to be one of those fish swimming happily beyond the sea).
Of course it was something that seemed impossible for every giraffe in the world. All of his friends thought that he’s crazy and started to mock him.
"Are you insane? You will die in a minute right after you drown down there."
"Look at that crazy giraffe. He thinks he can survive living under the sea. Look at him! Hurry up before the sharks eat him and you will not be able to see him again. HAHAHA"
"Silly little giraffe.. he waste his life by doing something that will definitely wreck him into pieces."
Kiko felt sad for a while, for none of his friends believed him. But deep inside his heart, he knew that he would happily chose to die for something rather than die in vain without knowing and doing what he really wanted to know and wanted to do.
So Kiko took a diving helmet he found, and went to the sea shore.
"Kiko, please, you must think twice about it. We belong to land, not the sea. It will be very hard for us to go there. I am afraid….. you won’t make it back here alive." Koorie, his closest friend tried to convince him to call off his plan.
"Even you…. said so. I don’t really mind what other people said, Koorie. But you are my closest friend yet you still find it is hard to believe that I can do what I want."
"It’s because I care. A diving helmet is not enough. You don’t have the rest of equipments you need to breathe down there! How can you survive?"
"By believe in myself." Kiko simply replied.
Then he walked away to the sea until Koorie could not see his figure again. Gone with the sea wave.
Kiko swam and swam. The diving helmet felt heavy on his head. It was harder for Kiko to move due to the weight in his head. It was also harder for Kiko to breathe. At once, the thought of “Maybe my friends were right, maybe I’m just a crazy giraffe trying to stand out. Maybe Koorie was right, a diving helmet is not enough..”
But he immediately wiped away those bad thoughts and started to pray instead. “Oh dear God I don’t want to die here. I want to prove to the world that I can do what they say I can’t do.”
Kiko kept swimming although it got harder and harder for him to move. He kept swimming until he saw a group of fish swimming happily. Kiko stopped for a while and looked around him. “Holy molly! It was so beautiful down here. Colors everywhere!” Kiko was so excited that he forgot a while ago he felt out of place. He was in awe of the view that was new to him.
It’s a whole new world to him. A world that was very different from the world he lived.
The group of fish gathered around him. They seemed puzzled for seeing a creature that they never seen before. Kiko wanted to talk to the fish, but he didn’t understand fish language. Suddenly he felt out of place again. None of the sea creatures talk to him. All of them just swam around him and gave him a weird look.
"Uh.. I should learn how to speak in fish language before I go here next time, and of course find the rest of diving equipments I need so I could stay here longer. I guess I’m running out of air here." he said to himself.
”Thanks God for letting me to see this whole new world. I fall in love with this place. Maybe I will make it a second home..” he smiled happily while making his way back to the land.
"The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do." - Walter Bagehot (English economist and journalist)
Wrote this story as a depiction dedicated to myself and those who often doubt themselves.
"You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there’s still going to be somebody who hates peaches.”
Everytime I see Dita Von Teese, I simply wonder how someone can be so flawlessly sexy. The quotes above is one of my favorites. It simply reminds you to just be yourself because no matter how much you try to be liked by everyone, it is not even close to the word “possible”. So why bother pretending? Just be yourself and those who accept you for who you are will stay.
Still long way to go.
Thank you for your wonderful words :)
I get inspired by so many things in daily life. They mostly come from the songs I listen, the movies I watch, the dreams I see when I’m sleeping, the books I read, the conversations with ppl around me (or overheard conversation from my surroundings).
I also used to get the inspiration from great artists around the world, but decided to stop taking that as my reference since last year. So yeah.. I guess that’s all :)
Have a great day!
Thank you! That’s very kind of you :)
I am pretty sure that your blog is also amazing, even far more beautiful than mine :)
